SERIOUS FLUKES
I am going to try to inform you, the reader of this article, about something that you may or may not care about. This is the first article I've written, so bear with me. The topic I will try to address is essentially the entire Flukes section of Starmen.net. Basically, it is dying. With the help of Jeb2, and hopefully you, the Flukes section can be given the Cup of Lifenoodles it needs.
For anyone who has been following the recent topic or two on the SM.net section of the boards, you already know about this. For those of you who haven't, listen up. The Flukes section of Starmen.net is going down faster than Amazon.com's stock value. Jeb2 hasn't had an oppotunity to update. That is a small problem, but the real problem is that he has very little to update with.
I personally have a few Flukes that will hopefully be posted soon. As I have said on the boards, the Flukes section of SM.net is dying. It has gotten to the point where more than a few staffers wouldn't mind cinching the rope to hang the Flukes section on. It has gotten this way because no one really cares about the Fluke section anymore.
Granted, some flukes aren't very funny. But the reason that they aren't funny isn't because people don't have a sense of humor. It's because most of the general subjects to make a fluke about have already been used. I've talked to a few people, both in and out of the boards, who had at one time considered making a fluke. After surfing the Fluke archives, though, they quickly found that their idea had already been used.
The Flukes weren't always on Death Row. You only have to look at the size of the archive to see that in the past, people have made a lot of flukes. A good number of these are funny! All it takes to make a great fluke is an idea, probably the Wierdo Maker available in the Flukes section, and 30 minutes of your time. If every person just made one fluke, it would be like letting the Flukes section take a nap at the Onett hotel. It wouldn't cost very much, and the end result would be a fresh, upbeat flukes section. It would be a serious fluke for you if you couldn't help a part of Starmen.net history stay alive.
